Repertoire of raags

Dr Pandit Gokulotsavji is regarded as the head of Khyal and Dhrupad style of music. He is also an acknowledged expert in Sama Gan and Praband style of music. His taan patterns and elaboration of raag are totally unique and unknown to any gharana. He is recognised as an authority on Bramha Mat, Rudra Mat, Hanuman Mat, Shudhha Bhinna, Gaudi Sadharani and Vesara. He is the only artist who gives recital in rare taal and raga as well as creating many new ragas for the listeners of classical music community.

From a very young age, Gokulotsavji became familiar with a variety of instruments, particularly Veena and Pakhawaj (drums), which imbued him with a heightened awareness of shruties and an uncanny sense of taan (rhythm).

Ordained in Dhrupad style from the very beginning, his presentation has always had the sublimity and elegance which characterises this particular branch of Indian Classical music. His music strives towards pure spiritual enlightenment and aims to feed the soul, elevating it to new heights.

As a leading and much respected leader of Vallabh Sampradaya, he is an acknowledged expert of Haveli Sangeet and Padas. His taan patterns and elaboration of raga are totally unique and unknown to any gharana. He is also recognised as an authority on Bramha Mat, Rudra Mat, Hanuman Mat, Shudhha, Bhinna, Gaudi, Sadharani and Vegsara.

Gokulotsavji’s son, Pandit Vrajotsavji Maharaj, has also created his own compositions and bandishes in the pen name of Vrajrang and Gururang Piya.
